The most I’m proud of the Boholanos, is their love for nature – not just in words but in deeds. I am so pleased and encouraged to learn that because the quality of the soil in some parts of Bilar was not sustainable and is hence prone to landslide, the local government in the early 1940’s ask the people to cooperate in planting trees and most of these are hard wood mahogany.
This was made possible by the effort of different private sectors, students and teachers including the military. They were able to plant a kilometer stretch of man-made forest. The trees were so huge you won’t feel the scorching sun even if its 12 noon sharp! All you can do is appreciate the shades, the greens and the smell of fresh air – the beauty of the environment.
