Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Nestor A. Espenilla, Jr. (2nd from right) and Citi Philippines CEO Aftab Ahmed (leftmost) led the launching ceremony of the annual Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA) held at Century Park Hotel Manila. The launch was the fitting end to another successful annual conference of the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) which drew over 400 delegates including microfinance practitioners and stakeholders.Governor Espenilla and Ahmed were joined by (L-R) 14th CMA national winner Honie Navor, Philippine Daily Inquirer chairperson Marixi Prieto, and MCPI chair Fr. Jovic Lobrigo. Now on its 15th year, the awards program has been successful in recognizing entrepreneurs who have overtaken poverty with support from microfinance institutions as partners in financial inclusion and enterprise development. Funded by Citi Foundation, this nationwide search for outstanding Filipino microentrepreneurs has been recognized with regional awards from Enterprise Asia and Asian Banking & Finance.
