#GerifiedPH: A Sweet-Sarap Afternoon with Regine and Nate

Started this post with OPM Classic Songs including Pangako by Regine Velasquez playing in the background and in the end, watched Regine’s Pangako Ikaw Lang (2001) movie with Aga Muhlach!

Learning that Ms. Regine and her son Nate is the new mommy-baby tandem endorsers of Jollibee’s Jolly Spaghetti and having the honor to grace the press launch, the first thing that came in my mind is a wish to see her sing live again! My latest performance of Ms. Regine was at the Morissete is Made concert, and their duet was the highlight of the night.

And Jollibee didn’t disappoint! Ms. Regine and Nate was introduced by host Ms. Christine Babao and they entered the stage singing in the tune I Can.

Newest Jolly Spaghetti endorsers Regine and Nate Alcasid share their most sweet-sarap moments They captured our real lives! Asias Songbird gushes about new Jollibee ad.

With an illustrious entertainment career spanning three decades, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has done almost everything, including chart-topping singles and albums, blockbuster movies, high-rated TV shows, and sold-out concerts. But for the Asia’s Songbird—one of the very few who’s successfully juggled being a singer, actress, record producer, and TV host—there’s one role she loves best: being a mom to her six- year-old son Nate.

Regine and Nate—who love to spend time just talking to one another about anything and everything under the sun—are the newest members of the Jollibee family and the stars of the latest heartwarming Jolly Spaghetti TV ad.

In the commercial, Regine revisits a familiar scene—a full concert auditorium with thousands of adoring fans—with a sweet-sarap surprise backstage for Nate. The ad goes on to show us special everyday moments between mother and son, with Regine narrating how being a mom has shed new light on day-to-day situations.

This is not the first time Regine and Nate worked on an endorsement together, but she believes that this one with Jollibee is the most special. “The storyboard is so touching and very personal. It shows my different roles as Regine, but it also shows that my greatest one is being a mom, which is the most difficult yet most fulfilling role I have to play,” Regine shared.

Just like real life Upon first review of the storyboard, Regine said: “Umiyak talaga ako. I said, “pinag-isipan talaga nila.” I’ve never done anything like this, a commercial that celebrates my being a career woman and a mom.”

Asia’s Songbird also shared that this Jollibee ad is inspired by her real life and her thoughts about being a mom. “In the ad, there’s a line where I say “sa lahat ng kinantahan ko, ikaw lang ‘ang nakatulog.” That’s true talaga! He really sleeps whenever I sing to him. It’s like they captured our real lives!” she said.

Another scene in the commercial that made Regine emotional is when she sings the lines “Pangako magmula ngayon, tayong dalawa ang magkasama,” which is lifted from one of her platinum hits Pangako.” This song holds special meaning to the songstress as it was composed by her husband Ogie Alcasid.

Sweet-Sarap bonding moments

Since she gave birth to Nate in 2011, Regine has slowed down her professional life to spend more time with her son. The first seven years are the most crucial to a child’s development, as studies show, and the Songbird is determined to make the most of it. One of their favorite bonding activities is to talk to each other before bed. “He always has a lot of kwento for me at night,” Regine said. “He would always say, “Mommy, last kwento,” but this last story would go on for 20 minutes! But honestly, that’s the highlight of my day. He really loves talking.”

“We also play with toys but they’re not really toys,” Nate shared. “It’s called amenities!” “He loves hotel supplies like toothbrushes,” Regine explains. “So one time when I was traveling, I brought everything back home to him. He was so happy, akala mo binigyan ko ng special gift. To him, it was really special because he knows I remembered him. I then realized, you can buy your child all the toys you can think of, but what they really want is more time with you.”

Regine’s realization is not lost on Nate, who—despite his parents’ celebrity status—prefers simple bonding activities like going on picnics and playing with Regine and Ogie. To make these bonding moments even sweeter and more fun, there’s always the sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti to bring more flavor to the Alcasid family’s special time together.

“When it’s time for merienda, he would say “I want one Jolly Spaghetti, two Chickenjoy legs, and two fries.” When I’m not at home, he would ask to order Jollibee and pay for it with his own money! Hindi niya ako hihintayin!” Regine candidly shared.

“The Jolly Spaghetti is so yummy!” the six-year-old exclaimed. “It’s sweet and cheesy and I can eat a lot of it!”

It’s no wonder why Nate—and other Pinoy kids—love Jolly Spaghetti. The al dente noodles are topped with Jollibee’s unique sweet-sarap sauce, meaty hotdog slices, and a generous sprinkling of grated cheese.

“The Jolly Spaghetti’s unique sweet-sarap flavors have always had a distinctive place in the hearts of Filipino kids and kids-at-heart, because moments spent with loved ones over a plate of Jolly Spaghetti are made sweeter, more fun, and more special,” said Cathleen Capati, Jollibee Marketing Director. “Regine and Nate’s story is not only heartwarming but also relatable to millions of Filipinos.” Jollibee Brand Manager Kat Silvoza talks about the sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti and how it has delivered countless sweet-saya moments na walang katulad to thousands of Filipino families throughout the decades.lcasid takes a photo with his favorite Jollibee.

Some of the netizens’ reaction to this Jollibee’s Jolly Spaghetti TVC: Sweet Sarap na Walang Katulad with Regine and Nate Alcasid:

Why does Jollibee always have to play on our heartstrings? This is endearing. It’s like saying, fame is nothing compared to the joy of having you in my life. – Mark Lee Gatchalian

So simple yet so meaningful. It’s true that being a good mother is the biggest accomplishment a woman can have in life. Like in Regine’s story, she’s already a queen and the most iconic Filipina singer before she became a mother but it only proves that more than all the praises, achievement and awards she received, it’s Nate who fulfilled her life completely. Nate is the reflection how good is Regine being a mother as she and Ogie raised him very well with God as the foundation. Kudos Jolibee! – Cruz Julius

I’ve seen many TVCs for Jollibee, but this one is such a heart warming, sweet and very realistic . . . Thank you ms. Regine and Nate. Thank you Jollibee – Ronald Lagan Bacaltos

As for Dabibot and Kulayot, I just let them have Jolly Spaghetti because its one of our Jollibee drive-thru favorites paired with a chicken joy for lunch or a regular crispy fries for meryenda.

Jolly Spaghetti is a good source of energy that is particularly important for growing active children. Topped with cheese for calcium and meaty hotdog as source of protein!

#GerifiedPH: Synthesis – A Fusion of Architecture and Photography

Structural members can actually be used as an art if it has the three characteristics – efficiency – to carry load, economy – to make the construction doable  and elegance – for the pleasure of our eyes. That is just one of the many things I noticed when I visited the Synthesis Architectural Photography Art Gallery  during its launch at the Atrium in SM Aura.

Synthesis: an Exhibit on Architectural Photography at the SM Aura Premier

28782792_1684291491614104_8773011193649430528_n.jpg

As part of SM’s Nationals Arts Month celebration this February, SM Supermalls invites everyone to Synthesis: an exhibit on Architectural Photography by Ar. Marc Henrich Go from February 28 to March 8 at The Upper Ground Atrium of SM Aura Premier.
With Dra. Vicky Belo at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Synthesis Art Gallery
Showcasing the harmony between two arts, Synthesis features both the talent of Marc Henrich Go, and the works of renowned architecture and design firm Budji+Royal, underscoring the intuitive collaboration of creative minds.
A first-of-its-kind demonstration at SM Aura Premier, the evocative photos are set to indulge with meaningful spatial experiences of atmosphere and emotion through architectural photography.
A multi-awarded photographer, Ar. Marc Henrich Go is a talented lensman who has won numerous competitions and completed many international commissions. Specializing in architectural, travel, and commercial photography, his works have been featured in the covers and pages of major publications and magazines such as the Philippine Tatler, People Asia, Bluprint, and Cocoon. He recently topped the January 2018 Architect Licensure Exam. Being both an architect and photographer, his approach is a fusion of both professions that enables him to capture the essence of architecture and design through his own extraordinary perspective.

Arch. Go can see the beauty between light and darkness fused in the many photos he has taken – timber trusses and steel flanges complimenting nature. His intention for asymmetry can also be found into some of his creation. For Synthesis, most of his photographs features Budji+Royal, a design firm led by the visionary tandem of Budji Layug and Royal Pineda, who together conceived a Total Design approach where architecture, interior design, furniture, styling and landscaping are planned into an integrated whole, specifically for the unique needs of each project.

More photos of the event here.
Don’t forget to catch other art events and activities you can discover in SM malls near you, including the Pagbubunsod 2018 in Angono (Feb 27 to Mar 3), the Cordillera and Panagbenga Art Exhibit in Baguio (until Mar 16), and the Art All Over exhibits and workshops in Seaside Cebu (until Mar 31).

#GerifiedPH: Help Reshape Your Child’s Future with Parentology+

I’m a parent. What’s your superpower?
Yes, I never thought that being a parent is a superpower, too! But guess what, our kid’s future lies in our hands, and hence, we have the power to empower them or bring them down! Good thing, Nestle Nankid created a venue that’ll help parents use their powers to help reshape our child’s future!
Parentology KV
Last February 6, Nestle Nankid Milk launched Parentology+ at the Trinoma Mall Activity Center. The event was joined in by almost a hundred guests to support the advocacy in helping parents take charge of their child’s future through the simple things they do at home.
Parentology recreates a home and its rooms. The space has three stations touching on topics about lifestyle, physical activity and socialization.
After the success of its Metro Manila run, Nestlé NANKID will be bringing Parentology outside of the Metro! To reach more parents, it will be followed by events in: SM City Clark on February 10-11, Abreeza Davao on March 3-4, and SM City Cebu on March 17-18.

Today’s world is vastly different from what it was just a decade ago, causing anxiety among parents trying hard to provide their children a future full of possibilities. Technology, environmental changes, and lifestyle shifts have redefined the way people do and view things, so much so that today’s parents sometimes feel overwhelmed by the world their children are growing in.

Unlike a generation ago when school children often ate home-cooked meals and played games with neighbors, today’s children often consume fast food items while playing video games on their handhelds. Parks and outdoor spaces have been replaced by sprawling malls, while the ever increasing population has meant traffic congestion, pollution, and other urban challenges that did not exist or were not as bad ten years ago. As a result, many children have become couch potatoes with limited socialization opportunities. A number of growing kids struggle with issues such as obesity, socialization difficulties, attention problems, and the like.

Worse, there are factors that parents feel they could not do much about such as family health history, to name a few, which could potentially influence their children’s future.

Despite all these challenges, parents still possess the power to reshape the future of their children. With commitment, knowledge, and support, they can build a better future for their kids.

To guide parents in reshaping the future of their children, Nestlé NANKID is partnering with them in advancing Parentology+, an advocacy to help parents take charge of their future with simple steps that can be taken right at home.  These day-to-day measures cover the different phases of life, such as diet and nutrition, exercise and activity, socialization, and creativity.

To launch Parentology+, Nestlé NANKID will be holding a series of events to bring the advocacy closer to parents across the country. The events will feature bloggers who are also parents, and who can share their experiences about different aspects of their parenting journey. Blogger Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi and Nestlé Nutritionist Ms. Aleli Magtibay will give insights on nutrition and diet.  Football player Anton del Rosario will share how he got his son to embrace an active lifestyle and love sports.  Entrepreneur and stylist Cat Arambulo-Antonio will speak on how she helped her children learn to socialize with their peers, and tidbits on how to stimulate their creativity and confidence.

Parentology+ recreates a typical home and its rooms. The space will consist of three stations touching on three important topics: Food, Physical Activity and Socialization– fill your day with ways you can stay lean at the Foodie station and make sure to get that drool-worthy photo, jump into a ball pit at the Play station and play on a giant piano at the Social station, and so much more! Each station will be decked out to be Instagram-worthy for those who want to share their family bonding moments on social media so make sure to check it out!

To up the ante, a special keepsakes and lots of freebies will be given to the participants. And for added excitement, Nestlé NANKID will be giving away Instax SQ10 cameras to two lucky attendees in each run!

27628727_1657286267647960_60075100573431926_o.jpg

Parentology+ kicks off starting February 3 to 4 at the Activity Center in Trinoma Mall, which starts the Metro Manila run. To reach more parents, it will be followed by events in:

  • SM City Clark on February 10-11,

  • Abreeza Davao on March 3-4, and

  • SM City Cebu on March 17-18.

Tanduay Athletics Locked In for Grassroots Basketball

Every hard work should have a reward, so take a time out from your daily hustle and unwind with Tanduay Rhum! Tanduay is the number one rhum for every occasion.

Tanduay Distillers Inc. president Lucio “Bong” Tan, Jr. is taking his support to grassroots sports a step further as he goes on full offensive for Batangas Tanduay Athletics in the new Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

Tan, whose passion for basketball was cultivated in childhood, believes he saw a formidable ally in MPBL founder Sen. Manuel Pacquiao in providing opportunities for local talents from the regions to advance their basketball dreams.

27709430_1995112373837899_1044089369190399697_o

“When we formed Tanduay Athletics, we had grassroots youth development as one of its major thrusts. We believe we can give equal opportunities to aspiring basketball talents from the cities and the regions through MPBL,” Tan said.

The MPBL features teams that represent a province, city or municipality in a home-and-away set up, where players get to play in front of hometown fans.
Each team is required to have at least three players that are homegrown to the area they represent.

Aside from Batangas Tanduay Athletics, other teams playing for the MPBL include Bataan Defenders, Bulacan Kuyas, Valenzuela Classic, Marikina Athletics, Caloocan Supremos, Navotas Redcore and Muntinlupa.

“We put our hope in the next generation to make better their lives and become useful to society. To give meaning to words, we support avenues that will enable them like the MPBL and Batangas is close to home. That makes this endeavor special and worthwhile,” Tan further explained.

Tanduay Distillers’ alcohol refinery Absolut Distillers Inc. has been operating for 26 years in Lian, Batangas. It is one of the country’s most advanced distilleries that has received multiple local and international awards for operating on zero waste and employing green practices.

“We have a very encouraging start with the strong performance of the team. We hope to continue the momentum. But in every league or sport we support, what’s important is how we are making a difference in the lives of the athletes. How they develop as individuals and how they will continue to inspire a nation as an athlete like Manny Pacquiao is why we are here to support,” Tan concluded.

The Batangas-Tanduay Athletics had an early win during a match with Valenzuela Classic and Bataan Defenders as former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players Val Acuna and Lester Alvarez lead the way for the new team.

MPBL games air every Tuesday, Thursday, and ‪Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m in ABSCBN Sports and Action. ‬‬

Take a swig and enjoy the moment with Tanduay Rhum.

#GerifiedPH: Morissette is Made

This pretty girl has been aired on national television for quite sometime. From TV5’s Variety Shows like Sunday Funday, Funtastik and Hey It’s Saberdey, and sitcoms like Pidol’s Wonderland, she is now regularly seen on ABS-CBN’s Top Sunday Variety Show, ASAP19. Morissette, whose name is Johanne Morissette Amon in real life is now ready to show the world more of what she’s made of.

26196170_1730076443680390_2883268055500312624_n

One of the things I learned about Morissette, is that she recently got herself not one, not two, but seven awards. Those of which recognized her as an elite member of Wish family on YouTube with several bronze trophies for 10 million views, silver trophies for 25 million views and gold for hitting more than 50 million views! Now that’s a lot, and more than recognition should be given to this powerful girl’s voice, she really needs to have a concert!

The concert, dubbed as “Morissette is Made” is “really made for her”, BMPI CEO/President, Mr. Daniel Razon shared. “We believe that she is good. She’s talented and that she can bring Filipino pride elsewhere in the world. We also believe that Wish 107.5 contributed also to why she became who she is now in the Musical Arena,” he added.

The singer also expresses her excitement for the upcoming concert: “I’m very excited for this concert because other than it’s going to be a whole new experience working with a differenft team, the Big Dome is THE Big Dome… The greatest of Filipino and international artists have all performed there, and for me to be able to hold my next solo concert there is just surreal,” according to Morissette.

“We want to give them the very best of what we can offer, from the stage to the music to the guests! But most of all, I want this concert to be an EXPERIENCE for everybody, that beyond all the visuals and sounds, by the end of the concert, they’ll be able to feel something.” she added. Aside from excitement, Morissette is very thankful for all the blessings and support that she has been receiving. “I primarily want to thank the whole Wish 107.5 family for trusting me to be the very first artist whom they will produce a major concert of… just those times I got to sing on the famous ‘WishBus’ have definitely become one of the highlights of my journey/career,” she said. “And also, endless thanks to everyone who’s been there for me-those who are with me on this journey.

THIS CONCERT IS FOR YOU GUYS, BECAUSE YOU MADE ME WHO I AM TODAY.” – Morissette.

MADE is directed by Paolo Valenciano with Adonis Tabanda as the musical director. According to Paolo, “Morissette is one of those artists that just makes me so comfortable to go to work because I know she will deliver. We wat to immerse her fans into the ultimate Morissette experience and we’re all very excited!”

The Dome was expected to be filled by “Mowieatics” here and around the globe together with the support of her friends in the music industry. David Cosico came up with the Morissette is Made, and for Morissette being MADE is defined as a person who has been thru so much in her life and came to that moment of truth.

Regarding her vocal squeak, she said that she accidentally stumbled upon this while finding her own image, to add spice to the vocals and was influenced her favorite foreign singers like Mariah Carey, Jessy J., and Demi Lovato.

I also had the chance to asked her some of my curiosity and she generously answered. Here’s a rough wrap up of what had transcribed.

Aside from singing, what other talent do we need to know about you?
Morissette liked to dance as well, she also detailed to us how she used to have a sing-dance performances with the A-Team.

Your voice was so powerful; are you open to theatrical performances?
I was surprised to learn that she already did the theatrics acts with camp rock and Chuva Choo Choo by Veni Saturno.

You mentioned you want to become a director someday; what kind of performances you like to direct?
It’s a no-brainer, she as a singer would also like to direct music concerts, too.

When asked if she also play instruments, Morissette happily shared that she likes playing the guitar and she has fingers made for the piano.

Aside from being a singer, are you open on becoming an actress? What genre?
She already had an experience in acting with Director Joyce Bernal and if she’ll pursue her acting career, she would like to be included on a science-fiction, action-adventure films.

morissetteismade gerifiedph.jpgYours truly with Morissette at the #MorissetteisMade Press Launch, more photos of the event here.

Morissette is actually celebrating her 7 years in the showbiz industry and would like to perform with Gary Valenciano, Mr. Pure Energy on a sing-dance concert and birit sessions with Ms. Regine Velasquez and Sarah Geronimo aside from other international artists.

What keeps this girl hitting the high notes was her number one supporter group and avid fans, her family. Finally, when asked if she is nervous on filling up the coliseum, she effortlessly winged it by saying, “We are hoping that Smart Araneta Coliseum will be filled, but what’s for sure, is that the audience will have a great time!”
Morissette is Made
