One truth in life, hairy is scary! You may find it obnoxious, but it’s true, especially when you see a hairy shadow lurking in the dark, or in a more realistic manner, when you want to slip on your shorts and sleeveless top during the hot season, but you just can’t.
Living in the Northern part of the Philippines can have its ups and downs. On one hand, year-round sun and fun; on the other, maintaining your body for year-round sunning and funning can be exhausting.
When you have the option to slip into your shorts and head to the beach or pool any time of the year, the goal is to maintain skin that’s smooth, no matter what season, which can certainly be sorted out by an appointment to your nearest waxing salon. But for Hey Sugar! Waxing Salon, it’s as much about giving clients what they need while making sure that they allow them to feel fabulous about themselves as well.
Hey Sugar makes all-natural and 100 % Sugar grooming options accessible to clients of all shapes and sizes. They use 100% naturally hypoallergenic sugar wax that minimizes side effects such as allergic reactions and chemical irritations caused by traditional wax—a gentler but no less effective way to keep your skin smooth and hair-free.
Hey Sugar!’s interiors are renowned for being warm, inviting and discreet. Clients can walk in and expect a clean and sterilized environment ideal for the sensitive beauty routines that they are about to undergo, while still feel like they are about to get pampered and taken care of.
And best of all, they can rest easy knowing they are in the hands of expert aestheticians who were trained to deliver only the best results. For newbies, this means you can easily ask your aesthetician any question about the process and advantages of sugar waxing and get a clear answer; for veterans, you know you will walk out of your appointment knowing there’s no other destination that can give you the same results using all-organic hair-removal methods.
“We strive to bring reliable and fast services, but also connect with our customers—it’s a very personal grooming procedure, after all, and we are dedicated to making customers happy and comfortable. Clients expect quality service, superior treatments and affordable prices but not at the expense of a warm and comfortable environment—and that’s exactly what we have waiting for them here,” explains Arvin A. Amaro, Hey Sugar’s Marketing Head.
At the end of the day, everyone deserves some sugar…and there’s no better place to get it than by heading to Hey Sugar! Robinsons Galleria.
Hair is our natural crowning glory, but we sometimes need to smoothen out areas were hair is not an asset.
Hey Sugar! Waxing Salon currently has 33 locations nationwide, including in Unimart Greenhills, Ayala Malls Centrio CDO, UP Town Center, Festival Supermall, SM Bicutan, SM Sta. Rosa, SM Bacolod, SM Calamba, and our newest branch Hey Sugar Robinsons Galleria. I used to be a small, but after my steroid intake to have a successful life-saving heart surgery, I ballooned to a size L and despite the sudden unwanted change, I try to keep a positive outlook about it. This change in my physical appearance, 6 inch scar across my back and a set of chubby cheeks signifies my 2nd chance in life.
But let’s face it, the beauty standard of the world is the petite type, stomach in and chiseled cheeks of unrealistic models, and admittedly, I get depressed whenever I think about my 23-inch waist back then. I used to stare at my jeans and grieve – with long deep sighs and tear-less cry.
I used to. Like I said, I want to keep a positive outlook in this sudden change, so after almost a decade, I let go of the past. I gave away my still looking brand new jeans and started praising myself in the mirror.
What I also do is follow empowered plus size icons – Melissa McCarthy, Adele, and Plump Pinays to name a few; I also join workshops and seminars that could aid me to be more confident, that is why I am so excited about this up-coming event by Ms. Michelle Lim Padrelanan, an event organizer and the brains behind Event Detailer Events Management Services. Ms. Michelle conceptualize seminars and workshops that could empower and hence, effectively help attendees.
For Event Detailers upcoming event, the target audience are plus size women who wants to update style and learn new make up tricks from a pro. It is hard to pick the right shade of color and the shape of the dress that will complement a plus size body.
This workshop will help plus-size ladies to look good and feel good. Learn how to create two looks – a day look and a night look with Make Up Artist and Fashion Stylist Ms. Jana Silao this November 25, at the Crumbsis Cafe, Makati City.
Ms. Jana will demostrate how to properly put on make up, from foundation, to brows, to countouring and getting that glow. You will learn by following with the make up you already own.
Aside from that, you’ll learn which looks are right for your body shape and know which pieces of clothing to invest in to build a capsule of clothes that you can mix and match.
Now at parties, we take lots of photos and it is a struggle to try to hide yourself – behind others or with a scarf or a huge bag. At this workshop, you’ll know the best angles for you so that all your photos will be memorable.
What’s more? Attendees for this event will receive giveaways from Suesh Make Up and Love Curves Ph.
For all these, your beauty investment is only P1800.00. In exchange, you’ll be more confident as your beauty shines through.
I learned that no matter what reason it may be, being a size L should not be something to be shy or embarrassed about. I also learned to embrace the change, be adoptable and only think about the things you could change. So why not embrace the beautiful you and empower yourself with the right makeup technique and fashion tips to level up your game?

‘Ma’am Charo’. ‘CSC’. ‘Ate Charo’. These are but some of the ways people within the entertainment industry fondly call Ms. Charo Santos. These honorifics are very much a reflection of the many facets of her luminous persona as an actress, TV host, movie producer, and corporate executive – not to mention wife and mother – and now as the sparkling brand Ambassador of My Diamond.
The story of how she gained a foothold in the world of entertainment is almost like a fairy tale. Growing up in the bucolic island of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Charo was, first and foremost, an unabashed movie fan. On weekends, her doctor father would take his brood downtown to catch the latest local and Hollywood releases. There, she would sit amazed as the moving image and storyline unfold on the big screen. She would also eagerly queue in line just to get the autograph of her favorite stars.
But it would be after graduating cum laude with a Communication Arts degree, and being crowned the Baron Travel Girl in 1976, that Charo would get her foot in the door as production assistant, and subsequently an award-winning debut acting role in Mike de Leon’s acclaimed film “Itim.”
From then on, there was no turning back for the beautiful, smart, and determined lass from Mindoro. Apart from her critically-acclaimed cinematic performances, she is host of the top-rating drama series “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” a successful movie producer, and television executive as CEO of ABS-CBN—the first woman to take the top helm within the network—until her retirement last year. She also marked a triumphant return to film, appearing in Lav Diaz’s “Ang Babeng Humayo,” which bagged the coveted Golden Lion at the 2016 Venice Film Festival which earned her a lengthy standing ovation from audience.
Today Charo’s brilliance still continues to shine like the rare gem that she is. It’s no surprise then that she now assumes the role of My Diamond’s newest brand ambassador, perfectly embodying the brand’s “Choose True Brilliance” spirit, and the finely crafted jewelry pieces that they carry.
Certainly, with all her achievements, Charo Santos is a real woman of substance and the epitome of true brilliance – sparkling, luminous, precious. Just like My Diamond.
Ever Bilena Cosmetics, Inc. CEO Dioceldo Sy (rightmost) with (L-R) Dept. of Public Works and Highways secretary Mark Villar, Hope for Lupus founder Cong. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar and Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines president Silliman Sy.
The country’s leading cosmetics brand, Ever Bilena, together with the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines (CCIP), is extending a helping hand to patients of Lupus as it officially partners with Hope for Lupus Foundation to help raise awareness on the chronic autoimmune disease.
Occurring when the body’s immune system attacks the muscles and organs, at least 30 to 50 in 100,000 of the population in the Philippines are victims of Lupus. This disease can be difficult to diagnose as its symptoms often imitate other ailments. Its most distinctive symptoms are a butterfly-shaped rash on the face from the bridge of nose to the cheeks, fatigue or fever, joint pain, stiffness and swelling, skin lesions that worsen when exposed to sunlight, shortness of breath, chest pain, dry eyes, headaches, confusion, and memory loss.
“It’s an unpredictable disease. One day I was okay traveling, then the next day I was in the hospital and I didn’t know what was happening to me,” shared Hope for Lupus Foundation founder, Congresswoman Emmeline Aglipay-Villar. “I am lucky that I can afford treatment, but a vast majority of Lupus patients in the Philippines cannot afford even a diagnosis, much less treatment and medication.”
With this partnership, Ever Bilena CEO Dioceldo Sy said, “It will be a long journey together with CCIP and Hope for Lupus, as we plan to hold some events to help indigent patients.”
CCIP president Silliman Sy also added, “We hope our association will be able to help in raising awareness on Lupus through cosmetics, which is the item that every woman needs to feel beautiful.”
Among these awareness and fundraising initiatives that Ever Bilena and CCIP have come up with are putting the Hope for Lupus logo on Blackwater Elite’s – Ever Bilena’s PBA basketball team – jersey as they play in the upcoming 2017 PBA Governor’s Cup, friendly matches with other PBA teams outside of the PBA season, and a marathon set for early next year.
